From 2023-2025, we are collaborating with the Tuzamurane cooperative in south-eastern Rwanda to identify sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by farmers in the region.
The Agro Sourcing Foundation (France) is the driving force behind this initiative, which seeks to address the outbreaks of pineapple disease and declining soil fertility that have the potential to impact the agricultural sector.
In collaboration with a group of farmer-trainers who are members of the cooperative, we are conducting experiments with various insecticide and bio-stimulant solutions, utilising local resources in their fields and on plots demonstrating novel agro-ecological practices.
The natural solutions that have been tested have demonstrated their capacity to eradicate pineapple disease, as well as other diseases affecting the country’s primary food crops.
As part of the ‘multiplication’ approach adopted for the training courses, the farmers who have received training have already begun to train other farmers.
