In 2020, for the NGO Frères des Hommes (France), we conducted a capitalisation of the capacity building and training processes for the Rwandan team implementing an economic and social empowerment project for vulnerable farming households and their groups.
This capitalisation was designed as a learning experience, fostering knowledge sharing and collective empowerment over the system.
The resulting report was accompanied by a set of educational sheets to facilitate the appropriation of the actions undertaken within the Frères des Hommes international network.
We also evaluated the project aimed at strengthening the economic and social capacities of the most vulnerable farming households and their groups, carried out by Frères des Hommes’ local partners.
The evaluation used a participatory approach, focusing on identifying the most significant changes experienced by stakeholders. It was designed to enhance the analytical and forward-thinking skills of those involved.
The presentation of the multifocal evaluation report to the AFD (French Development Agency) led to the continuation of the project and the approval of funding for its next phase.

In 2017, the “RECASE-Tuzamukané” project, in support of Rwandan farmers, was launched by Frères des Hommes and its partners Duhamic-Adri and Adenya. This name, which sounds like a song, is rich in meaning. RECASE stands for “Reinforcement of Social and Economic Capacities,” the overarching goal of the project. It is also a nod to the Kinyarwanda word “rekazé,” meaning “you are invited to.”
The word “tuzamukane” means “let’s rise together” in Kinyarwanda. Together, the title of this new project is an invitation to take action and move forward together.
